JCIA holds Business Study Workshops in order to provide the executives and the employees of the member societies with useful information, so that they would have a better understanding of business circumstances.

The sixth business study workshop for fiscal 2016 was held as follows;

-Theme: The Latest Information on "IFRS 17" (Insurance Contract Accounting)
-Lecturer: Takanobu Miwa, CPA, KPMG AZSA LLC

Mr. Miwa explained the outline of "IFRS 17" and the schedule of its application to insurers. He also lectured on the accounting models of insurance contract including the approach for allocating insurance premium, the building block approach and the variable commission approach, respectively. He also mentioned what has been decided at the IFRS IASB Meeting in 2016 as well as the brief proceedings of the meeting.
