JCIA holds business study workshops with the aim of contributing to facilitation of the cooperative insurance business by helping executives and regular employees of the member societies understand the latest domestic and international issues, in which the member societies are highly interested and which are likely to have an impact on their cooperative insurance operations.
The third business study workshop for fiscal 2013 was held as follows,

- Theme: IFRS 4 Revised Exposure Draft "Insurance Contracts" and its response
- Lecturer: Takanobu Miwa, Partner, CPA, KPMG AZSA LLC

The Exposure Draft IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard) 4 "Insurance Contracts" was published by IASB (International Accounting Standards Boards) in June 2013. The comment period was open until the 25th October 2013, and there have had many comments.
The lecture was given on the arguing point of gathering comments about the Exposure Draft, contents of the comments and its response.
As many as 51 people participated in the workshop mainly from a wide range of departments of member societies of the JCIA such as a management planning, administration, risk management, finance, and account department.
